Experimental .vbo
Import your RaceLogic VBOX files (.vbo)
How to retrieve your .vbo files from a VBOX logger to import them into Brake Point.
Updated on February 10, 2026
Prerequisites
- Software: VBOX Tools (Windows) — optional, the .vbo file is ready to use
- Compatible logger: VBOX Sport, VBOX Video HD, VB20SL, VB3i, PerformanceBox
- Output format:
.vbo
What is the VBO format?
The .vbo format is the native format of RaceLogic VBOX GPS loggers. It is a readable text format containing GPS data (position, speed, heading) recorded at high frequency (10 to 100 Hz depending on the model).
VBOX loggers are renowned for their exceptional GPS accuracy (up to 100 Hz with the VB3i), making them a benchmark for performance measurements.
Step 1 — Retrieve the VBO file
From the SD card
- Remove the SD card from your VBOX logger
- Insert it into your computer
- The
.vbofiles are at the root of the card or in a dated folder
From VBOX Tools
- Connect the logger via USB
- Open VBOX Tools
- Download the session — the
.vbofile is saved to your computer
Step 2 — Import into Brake Point
- Log in to app.brakepoint.io
- Click Import a session
- Select your
.vbofile - Brake Point reads the file and extracts GPS data
Extracted data
| Data | Source |
|---|---|
| Speed | GPS (high precision) |
| GPS position | Latitude, Longitude |
| Heading | GPS heading |
| Altitude | GPS height |
Limitations (experimental support)
- GPS-only data: VBOX loggers are pure GPS devices. Unlike systems with ECU, you won’t have engine data (RPM, gear, throttle), brake, or lean angle.
- Analog channels: if your VBOX has configured analog inputs, they will be included in the .vbo file but recognition depends on channel names.
- Trigger events: if your VBOX uses trigger beacons for laps, Brake Point detects them. Otherwise, GPS detection takes over.
VBOX support is being improved. If you encounter an issue, contact us with your file.
