Experimental .ld
Import your MoTeC files (.ld)
How to retrieve your .ld files from MoTeC i2 to import them into Brake Point.
Updated on February 10, 2026
Prerequisites
- Software: MoTeC i2 (Windows/macOS) — optional, the .ld file is ready to use
- Compatible logger: MoTeC C125, C185, C187, L120, L130, GPS Module
- Output format:
.ld - Also compatible: some racing simulators (iRacing, Assetto Corsa, ACC) export in MoTeC .ld format
What is the LD format?
The .ld format is MoTeC’s native binary format. It contains all data recorded by the logger along with metadata (channel names, units, sample rate). It is a widely adopted format, including by racing simulators.
Step 1 — Locate the LD file
From a MoTeC logger
- Connect the logger to your computer
- Open MoTeC i2 (free for viewing)
- Download the session — the
.ldfile is created in the project folder - You can also copy the file directly from the logger’s SD card
From a simulator
- iRacing:
Documents\iRacing\telemetry\*.ld - Assetto Corsa Competizione:
Documents\Assetto Corsa Competizione\MoTeC\*.ld - Assetto Corsa: requires the MoTeC plugin
Step 2 — Import into Brake Point
- Log in to app.brakepoint.io
- Click Import a session
- Select your
.ldfile - Brake Point decodes the binary format and extracts available data
Extracted data
| Data | Recognized channels |
|---|---|
| Speed | Ground Speed, GPS Speed |
| GPS position | GPS Latitude, GPS Longitude |
| Throttle | Throttle Pos |
| Braking | Brake Pos, Brake Pressure |
| Engine RPM | Engine RPM |
| Gear | Gear |
| Lap number | Lap |
Limitations (experimental support)
This format is being validated. Notes:
- Variable channels: channel names depend on the logger configuration. If your channels have non-standard names, some data may not be recognized.
- Simulator data: simulator files are generally well-structured and work reliably.
- GPS: some MoTeC configurations don’t include a GPS module. Without GPS data, the track map and automatic lap detection won’t be available.
