Import your AiM XRK/XRZ files

How to retrieve native .xrk or .xrz files from your AiM logger to import them into Brake Point.

Updated on June 24, 2026

Prerequisites

  • Software: AiM Race Studio 3 (Windows)
  • Compatible logger: AiM Solo, Solo 2, EVO4, EVO5, MyChron5
  • Output format: .xrk

What is the XRK format?

The XRK format is the native format of AiM loggers. Unlike the CSV export, it contains all raw data recorded by the logger with no loss of precision. This is the recommended format for optimal analysis.

Step 1 — Download the session from the logger

  1. Connect your AiM logger to your computer via USB or Wi-Fi
  2. Open Race Studio 3
  3. Go to Data Download
  4. Select the session and click Download

Step 2 — Grab the file straight from disk

Fastest path: Race Studio 3 saves downloaded files at a fixed location, organized by date. No need to open the software to export — you can take the .xrk directly.

  • Windows: C:\AIM_SPORT\RaceStudio3\user\data\[date]\
    • [date] is the track-day date subfolder, e.g. 2026-06-22
    • Each session of the day is a .xrk file

Tip: paste the path straight into the Windows Explorer address bar to jump there in one click.

Alternative if Race Studio 3 is already open: right-click the session → Open File Location.

Step 3 — Import into Brake Point

  1. Log in to app.brakepoint.io
  2. Click Import a session
  3. Select your .xrk file
  4. Brake Point decodes the binary format and extracts all available data

Extracted data

The XRK format typically contains:

  • GPS: position, GPS speed, heading
  • IMU: lateral and longitudinal accelerations
  • ECU (if connected): RPM, gear, throttle position, brake pressure
  • GPS Gyro: calculated lean angle (motorcycle)
  • Laps: lap markers embedded in the file

XRK vs CSV — Which to choose?

Our advice: use the .xrk file whenever possible. Once Race Studio 3 has downloaded the session, the file is immediately available in C:\AIM_SPORT\RaceStudio3\user\data\[date]\ — you no longer need the software to import it into Brake Point.
