Import your RaceChrono sessions (.csv)

How to export your RaceChrono sessions to CSV and import them into Brake Point for analysis and AI coaching.

Updated on July 22, 2026

Prerequisites

  • App: RaceChrono (Android or iOS)
  • A recorded session with the track and start/finish line set in the app
  • Generated format: .csv (“Format 3” export)

What is RaceChrono?

RaceChrono is one of the most widely used GPS lap-timing apps on track. It records your GPS position, speed and, through the phone’s inertial sensors, your lean angle, lap after lap. Each session can then be exported to CSV.

Brake Point imports these exports directly: keep RaceChrono for real-time timing, and add detailed analysis and AI coaching once you are back in the pits.

Step 1 - Export the session to CSV

  1. Open RaceChrono and go to the sessions list
  2. Select the session you want to analyse
  3. Open the Export menu and choose CSV
  4. Keep Format 3 (RaceChrono’s standard export)
  5. Transfer the .csv file to your computer (share, email, cable)

Both separator variants import: comma (dot decimal) and semicolon (comma decimal, the FR/Excel export). Nothing to configure.

Step 2 - Import into Brake Point

  1. Log in to app.brakepoint.io
  2. Click Import a session
  3. Select your .csv file
  4. Brake Point detects the laps and starts the analysis

Limitations (experimental support)

  • GPS and inertial only: RaceChrono records GPS and phone sensors. Without a connected engine unit, there is no RPM, gear, throttle or brake data.
  • Export CSV, not RCZ: the native .rcz archive is not supported yet. .rcz import (with laps and sectors) is planned.
  • .vbo files also supported: if you export a .vbo from RaceChrono instead, Brake Point reads it too (see the RaceLogic VBOX guide).

RaceChrono support is being improved. If you hit an issue, contact us with your file.
