Experimental .run
Import your Race Technology files (.run)
How to retrieve your .run files from a Race Technology logger to import them into Brake Point.
Updated on February 10, 2026
Prerequisites
- Software: Race Technology Analysis Software (Windows) — optional, the .run file is ready to use
- Compatible logger: DL1, DL1 Sport, DL2, DASH2, SPEEDBOX
- Output format:
.run
What is the RUN format?
The .run format is the native binary format of Race Technology loggers. It contains GPS data, accelerations measured by the built-in IMU, and optionally engine data if the logger is connected to the ECU.
Race Technology loggers are popular in motorsport for their value and ease of installation.
Step 1 — Retrieve the RUN file
From the SD / CompactFlash card
- Remove the memory card from the logger
- Insert it into your computer
- The
.runfiles are at the root of the card
From Race Technology software
- Connect the logger via USB or serial
- Open the Race Technology Analysis Software
- Download the session from the logger
- The
.runfile is saved in the project folder
Step 2 — Import into Brake Point
- Log in to app.brakepoint.io
- Click Import a session
- Select your
.runfile - Brake Point decodes the binary format and extracts the data
Extracted data
| Data | Source |
|---|---|
| Speed | GPS |
| GPS position | Built-in GPS module |
| Lateral acceleration | IMU (accelerometer) |
| Longitudinal acceleration | IMU (accelerometer) |
| Engine RPM | ECU (if connected) |
| Sector times | Sector beacons |
Limitations (experimental support)
- ECU data: engine data (RPM, gear, throttle, brake) is only available if the logger is connected to the vehicle’s ECU. GPS and IMU data is always present.
- Accelerations: the built-in accelerometer measures lateral and longitudinal G-forces, useful for analyzing braking and cornering.
- Sectors: if your logger recorded sector times, Brake Point uses them for lap splitting.
